Friends Helping Club BerhampurServing Humanity with Compassion and Commitment

Friends Helping Club is a voluntary social service organization based in Berhampur, Odisha, dedicated to uplifting lives through compassion, service, and community participation. Guided by the belief that true service to humanity is the highest form of service, we actively support individuals and families during times of medical, educational, and social need.

Through our regular service projects, we strive to create a healthier, educated, and caring society—especially for the underprivileged, elderly, children, and patients in distress.

Founded in 1970, Friends Helping Club was born from the compassion of a group of young students who recognized the educational struggles of their peers and the surrounding community. What began as a simple effort to support underprivileged students with books, uniforms, and school fees soon evolved into a sustained movement of social service.

Over the years, the Club expanded its mission to include healthcare and immunization services, launching impactful projects such as Free Pulse Polio drives, baby immunization, child health check-ups, oxygen cylinder supply, blood donation, and eye donation. For more than three decades, these initiatives have played a vital role in serving the people of Berhampur.

In 2002, the Club consolidated its activities at the Maternity and Child Welfare Centre, Giri Market, Berhampur, with the support and encouragement of Dr. Satish Kumar Patnaik, Secretary of the Centre. Recognizing the Club’s selfless service, the Centre provided space for the Club’s administrative office and permanent projects.

A major milestone was achieved in 2006 with the inauguration of the Club’s permanent office, “SNEHAM,” under the leadership of Frd. S. Durga Prasad and the support of Frd. T. Kameswar Rao. This marked a new phase of growth, enabling the Club to reach and support many more children and mothers.

Continuing its journey of service, the Club realized a long-cherished dream with the foundation stone laying of the Friends Helping Club Community Service Hall on 14th December 2012, by the Hon’ble Mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation, Sri Siba Sankar Das, in the presence of Frd. Dr. Satish Kumar Patnaik. Today, Friends Helping Club stands as a symbol of sustained commitment, compassion, and community-driven service.
